말씀의 샘
성령에게 이끌린 사람
성경을 보면, 사탄은 예수님 가장 가까이에 있던 제자 중 하나인 가룟 유다에게 생각을 넣어서 예수님을 팔게 했습니다. 또 성령이 충만한 시대에 살던 아나니아와 삽비라는 성령을 속이고 땅 판 돈의 일부를 감추었다가 죽음을 맞게 했습니 다. 사도행전 6장에 보면, 사탄이 헬라파 유대인과 히브리파 유대인 사이에 분쟁을 일으켰습니다. 그러자 성도들이 화합하지 못하고 서로 다투었습니다. 그런데 스데반은 그런 데에 매이지 않고 복음을 전 했습니다.
스데반이 죽은 뒤, 사울이 예수님 믿는 사람들을 옥에 가두었습니다. 예루살렘에 큰 핍박이 일어났지만 그 바람에 빌립이 사마리아에 가서 복음을 전했습니다.
‘예수님이 이 땅에 계실 때 성령이 임하면 우리가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 복음을 전할 것이라고 하셨지. 그때 말씀하신 사마리아 땅에 내가 와 있네. 이곳에서 복음을 전해야지.’ 빌립이 복음을 전해 많은 사람들이 구원받고 사마리아 성에 큰 기쁨이 있었습니다.
사탄의 음성에 귀 기울인 사람
하나님은 어느 시대든지 사람들을 구원하시고 그들을 이끌어 하나님의 일꾼으로 만드십니다. 가룟 유다나 아나니아와 삽비라처럼 사탄에게 이끌려서 파멸의 길을 가는 사람도 있지만, 스데반처럼 하나님의 말씀을 전하고 순교하는 사람도 있고, 빌립처럼 핍박 가운데에도 복음을 전하는 사람도 있습니다. 빌립이 잘나서 이런 일을 한 것이 아닙니다. 빌립은 성령의 이끌림을 받았고, 반대로 가룟 유다나 아나 니아와 삽비라는 사탄의 음성에 귀 를 기울였던 것입니다.
사탄의 음성을 들으면 성령의 음성을 따라가기 힘들고, 성령의 음성을 듣는 사람은 사탄의 음성을 따라가기 힘듭니다. ‘나는 믿음이 없어’ 하는 사람들은 성령의 음성을 떠나 자주 사탄의 음성을 듣고, 가룟 유다나 아나니아와 삽비라처럼 파멸의 길로 들어가면서도 사탄에게 속아서 자기 판단이 옳다고 생각합니다. 성경에서 그런 사람들이 당하는 일을 보면 정말 불쌍합니다. 가룟 유다가 사탄의 음성을 듣고 예수님을 팔 때 자기가 자살해서 죽을 것을 알았겠습니까. 아나니아와 삽 비라가 사탄에게 이끌림 받아 땅값을 감추고 거짓말을 하면서 자신들이 죽을 줄 알았겠습니까. 사탄이 결과를 알지 못하게 속이고 마음을 한쪽으로 이끌어서 멸망당하게 한 것입니다.
하나님의 종의 음성을 들으면
기독교 역사를 보면, 성령이 충만할 때 항상 사탄도 역사했습니다. 구원받고 기뻐하던 사람들 가운데 예수님을 위해 일생을 바치는 사람이 있는가 하면, 사탄에게 속아 서 말도 안 되는 소리를 듣고 따라 가 패망하는 사람도 있습니다. 그래서 우리가 하나님의 종의 음성을 들어야 하며, 성도가 서로 교류 해야 합니다. 사탄이 악한 마음을 주어서 우리 안에 가룟 유다나 아나니아와 삽비라가 품은 것과 같은 생각이 일어날 때, 어두운 생각이 일어날 때, 서로 빛 가운데에서 교제하고 기도하면서 그런 생각에서 벗어나야 합니다. 그래서 하나님은 교회를 주셨고, 예수님은 베드로에게 “내 양을 먹이라. 내 양을 치라.”고 하셨습니다. 어린양들은 사탄의 음성을 분별하지 못해 끌려 갈 수 있지만, 하나님의 종들이 분별해서 가르쳐 주고 깨우쳐 줄 수 있습니다.
열 두 명의 정탐꾼
이스라엘 백성들이 애굽에서 나와 가나안으로 들어가기 전에, 모세가 정탐꾼 열두 명을 가나안에 보내 땅을 보고 오라고 했습니다. 열두 사 람 가운데 여호수아와 갈렙은 하나님의 말씀을 믿었습니다. 그런데 나 머지 열 사람은 사탄의 음성을 듣고 땅에 대해 악평을 하며 그곳에 네피림 후손인 거인들이 있어서 못 들어 간다고 했습니다. 그들은 자신들만 망한 것이 아니라 이스라엘 백성이 하나님을 불신하고 자기 멋대로 살게 만들었습니다. 그래서 60만 명이나 되는 사람들이 광야에서 죽는 무지무지한 저주를 가져왔습니다.
여호수아와 갈렙은 그들과 같지 않았습니다. 가나안 땅에 들어갈 수 없다고 말하는 열 명과 맞서 “그 렇지 않다. 그들이 힘이 센 것은 사실이지만 애굽에서 우리가 이겼다. 지금까지 하나님이 도우셨다. 하나님이 우리와 같이 계시니까 능히 이길 거다!” 하며 하나님을 증거했 습니다. 그래서 여호수아와 갈렙만 축복의 땅 가나안에 들어갈 수 있었습니다.
하나님을 찬양하고 감사하는 마음으로
구원받았다고 해서 다 복된 삶을 사는 것은 아닙니다. 가룟 유다처럼 파멸의 길을 가는 사람도 있습니다. 우리는 사탄이 역사하는 것을 알고 자기 생각을 믿어서는 안 되고 성경을 펴서 말씀을 깊이 생각하고 서로 마음을 나누어야 합니다. 우리에게 하나님의 크신 은총을 찬양하고 감사하는 마음이 점점 커진다면, 하 나님이 우리와 함께하셔서 전 세계에 복음을 전할 길을 열어주시고 복되게 이끄실 것입니다.
The Person Led by the Holy Spirit
In the Bible, Satan put a thought into one of Jesus’ closest disciples, Judas Iscariot, to sell Him. In an era filled with the Holy Spirit, there was also Ananias and Sapphira, who tried to deceive the Holy Spirit when they made an offering to the church but kept back part of the money they had received after selling some property and ended up dying for it. In Acts chapter 6, Satan caused a conflict between the Grecians and Hebrews. The disciples could not reconcile and quarreled with each other. However, Stephen continued preaching the gospel without being bound by the situation.
After Stephen died, Saul put the people who believed in Jesus in prison. Although great persecution arose in Jerusalem, it pushed Philip to go to Samaria to preach the gospel.
‘When Jesus was on earth, He said we shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon us, and we shall be witnesses unto Him both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. I’m in the land of Samaria that Jesus was talking about, so I have to preach the gospel here.’
Philip preached the gospel and many people were saved and there was great joy in Samaria.
The Person Who Listens to the Voice of Satan
In every era, God saved people and led them to be His workers. There are some, like Judas Iscariot or Ananias and Sapphira, who are led by Satan and head to destruction. But there are others like Stephen who preaches the Word of God and is martyred and also like Phillip, who preached the gospel with the guidance of the Holy Spirit even under persecution. Philip did not do this because he was a great person. He was led by the Holy Spirit. On the contrary, Judas Iscariot, Ananias and Sapphira listened to the voice of Satan. It is difficult to follow the voice of the Holy Spirit for those who listen to the voice of Satan. However, when they listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, it is difficult to follow the voice of Satan. People who say, ‘I don’t have faith,’ often listen to the voice of Satan over the Holy Spirit. Being deceived by Satan, they think their judgment is right even when they’re going on the path of destruction like Judas Iscariot or Ananias and Sapphira did.
It is very pitiful to see what happens to those people in the Bible. Did Judas Iscariot know he would commit suicide when he listened to Satan’s voice and sold Jesus? Did Ananias and Sapphira know they would die when they were being led by Satan to hide the money from selling their possession and lie about it? Satan deceived them to not see the consequences and led their hearts astray and into destruction.
If You Listen to the Voice of God's Servant
Throughout Christian history, Satan always worked whenever the Holy Spirit worked. Among the people who received salvation and rejoiced, there were people who devoted their lives to Jesus, and there were also people who were deceived by Satan, following ridiculous voices and perishing. That is why we must listen to the voice of God’s servant and the congregation must interact with each other. When Satan gives us a wicked heart and evil thoughts like Judas Iscariot, Ananias and Sapphira had, when the dark thoughts arise, we must be free from those thoughts by having fellowship with each other and praying in the light. That is why God gave us the church and Jesus said to Peter, “Feed my sheep. Feed my sheep.” Little sheep cannot tell which is Satan’s voice and may be dragged to it, but God’s servants can tell the difference and guide us.
Twelves Spies
After the Israelites left Egypt and before entering Canaan, Moses sent twelve spies to Canaan to search the land. Among the twelve, Joshua and Caleb believed the word of God. However, the other ten men listened to Satan’s voice and gave an evil report of the land saying they couldn’t go into the land where there were the children of Anak, who were giants. Not only did those men perish, they made the Israelites distrust God and live however they wanted to. Because of that, 600,000 people were cursed to die in the wilderness. Joshua and Caleb were not like them. They fought against the ten other men’s words and witnessed God, “That is not true. Yes, the people there are strong, but we won in Egypt. God has helped us until now. God is with us; we will surely win!” Only Joshua and Caleb were able to enter Canaan, the land of blessing.
Praising God and Giving Thanks
Being saved does not mean everyone is guaranteed to live a blessed life; there are people who follow the path to destruction like Judas Iscariot. We must understand that Satan is constantly working and we should not believe our own thoughts. Instead, we must read the Bible, ponder the Word and share our hearts with each other. If we grow in appreciation and praise for God’s great grace, God will be with us to open the way to preach the gospel to the whole world and lead us to be blessed.
