The Wise Person Who Believes in Jesus
예수님은 우리와 차원이 다른 분입니다. 예수님을 믿는 사람만큼 지혜로운 사람은 없습니다. 여러분이 조금 아는 것을 가지고 아는 척하지 말고
예수님의 말씀을 그대로 받아들이기를 바랍니다. 그래서 2024년은 예수님과 점점 더 가까워지고 하나가 되는 복된 한 해가 되길 바랍니다.
병들어 죽은 나사로
요한복음 11장에는 베다니에 사는 나사로와 그의 여동생 마리아와 마르다에 관한 이야기가 나옵니다. 어느 날, 나사로가 병이 들었는데 낫질 않았습니다. 그래서 마리아와 마르다가 예수님께 사람을 보냈습니다.
“예수님, 사랑하시는 나사로가 병들었습니다.”
“이 병은 죽을병이 아니라. 하나님의 영광을 위함이요, 하나님의 아들로 이를 인하여 영광을 얻게
하려 함이라.”
그 이야기를 전해 들은 마리아와 마르다는 안심이 되었습니다. 그런데 이틀이 되도록 예수님이 오시지 않았습니다.
“예수님이 얼른 달려와 고쳐주실 줄 알았는데 왜 안 오시지?”
“이러다 오빠가 죽으면 어떡해?”
그러는 사이 나사로가 죽고 말았습니다. 마리아와 마르다는 슬픔이 가득하여 죽은 나사로를 장사 지냈습니다.
슬픔과 섭섭함이 가득 찬 마르다
나사로가 죽은 지 나흘째 되는 날, 예수님이 베다니에 오셨습니다.
마르다가 예수님을 맞으며 말했습니다.
“예수님, 왜 이제 오셨어요? 예수님이 빨리 오셨다면 오빠가 죽지 않았을 거예요.”
그러자 예수님이 마르다에게 말씀하셨습니다.
“네 오라비가 살리라.”
“세상 마지막 날 부활할 때는 다시 살겠죠.”
마르다는 예수님이 하신 말씀을 이해하지 못했습니다. 이미 죽어 무덤에 묻었고 썩어 냄새가 나는 시신이 살아난다는 것은 말도 안 되는 이야기였기 때문입니다.
그 뒤에 마리아도 예수님을 만나 울면서 “예수님이 여기 계셨다면 오빠가 죽지 않았을 거예요”라고 했습니다. 마르다와 마리아의 마음에는 예수님에 대해 섭섭한 마음이 가득했습니다.
돌을 옮겨 놓으라
예수님은 믿음이 없는 마리아와 마르다를 보시고 너무 답답해서 눈물을 흘리셨습니다. 그리고 무덤으로 가셨습니다. 당시 이스라엘은 시신을 굴에 넣고 돌로 막았습니다. 예수님이 말씀하셨습니다.
“돌을 옮겨 놓으라.”
마르다가 대답했습니다.
“예수님, 오빠가 죽은 지 나흘이 되어 벌써 냄새가 납니다.”
“내가 ‘네가 믿으면 하나님의 영광을 보리라’ 하지 아니하였느냐?”
그제야 마르다는 사람들을 시켜 무덤의 돌문을 열었습니다. 그때 예수님이 다시 말씀하셨습니다.
“아버지여, 내 말을 들으신 것을 감사합니다. 항상 내 말을 들으시는 줄을 압니다. 그런데 이렇게 말씀하는 것은 이 사람들을 위함이니, 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것을 이 사람들로 믿게 하려 함입니다.”
그리고 큰 소리로 “나사로야, 나오라!” 하고 부르셨습니다. 그러자 나사로가 무덤에서 나왔습니다. 말씀대로 나사로가 살아난 것입니다.
죽은 나사로를 살리신 이유
예수님의 생각과 우리 생각은 너무 다릅니다. 그래서 우리 생각을 가지고 있으면 예수님의 생각을 받아들일 수가 없습니다. 마르다와 마리아는 예수님이 나사로가 살아날 거라고 하셨을 때, ‘이미 죽어 썩은 냄새가 나는 오빠가 살아난다고? 그게 말이 돼?’라고 생각했습니다. 이처럼 이 시대에도 많은 사람들이 예수님이 죄를 다 씻으시고 의롭게 해놓으셨다고 말씀하셔도 그 말씀을 받아들이지 못합니다.
하나님은 “네가 볼 때는 불가능하고 말도 안 되지만 나는 그렇게 할 수 있어. 나사로를 살리듯이 너를 살릴 능력이 있어”라고 말씀하십니다. 우리가 이해할 수 없는 일에도 ‘하나님은 전능하시니까 얼마든지 하실 수 있어’ ‘하나님은 나를 의롭게 하실 수 있어’ ‘하나님은 내 병을 고치실 수 있어’ ‘하나님은 내 문제를 해결해주실 수 있어’ 하고 믿기를 바라십니다. 그래서 죽은 나사로를 살리시는 일을 하시고 성경을 통해 우리에게 보여주신 것입니다.
예수님과 하나가 되는 한 해가 되길
사랑하는 어린이 여러분, 나는 60년 넘게 예수님을 믿어 오면서 예수님으로 말미암아 불가능한 일들이 가능하게 되는 것을 수없이 많이 경험했습니다. 그래서 지금은 ‘사하라 사막이라도 하나님이 나를 먹이시면 내가 살 수 있겠다’는 마음이 생겼습니다. 아무리 어려워 보여도 ‘예수님이면 되겠다’ 하는 믿음이 생겼습니다.
예수님을 믿는 사람만큼 지혜로운 사람은 없습니다. 여러분이 조금 아는 것을 가지고 아는 척하지 말고 예수님의 말씀을 그대로 받아들이길 바랍니다. 그래서 2024년에는 예수님과 점점 더 가까워지고 하나가 되어 하나님이 여러분에게도 힘있게 일하시기를 바랍니다.
Lazarus Died of Sickness
John chapter 11 in the Bible tells the story of Lazarus and his sisters, Mary and Martha, who lived in Bethany. One day, Lazarus became sick but did not get better so his sisters sent someone to Jesus.
“Jesus, Lazarus whom you love is sick.”
Jesus replied.
“This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”
Mary and Martha were relieved when they were told these words. But two days passed and Jesus had still not come.
“I thought Jesus would come and heal Lazarus at once, why isn’t He here yet?”
“What if our brother dies like this?”
Not long after, Lazarus died. Mary and Martha buried him and their hearts were filled with sorrow.
Martha Full of Grief and Disappointment
Jesus came to Bethany on the fourth day after Lazarus’ death. As Martha greeted Him, she said, “Jesus, why have you come now? If only you had come earlier, he wouldn’t have died.”
Then Jesus replied.
“Your brother will live.”
“I know he will live again in the resurrection at the last day,” said Martha.
She did not understand Jesus’ words. It was nonsense to think that a rotting, dead body that had been buried in the grave would come back to life.
Afterwards, Mary also met Jesus and cried, “If You had been here, my brother would not have died.” Martha and Mary’s hearts were full of grief and disappointment towards Jesus.
Take Ye Away the Stone
When Jesus saw Mary and Martha’s lack of faith, He wept in frustration. Then He went to the grave. At that time in Israel, when someone died, the people would put the dead body in a cave and block the entrance with a large stone.
“Take ye away the stone,” said Jesus.
“Jesus, he has been dead for four days and his body already stinks,” Martha replied.
“Did I not say unto you, ‘If you believe, you will see the glory of God’?”
So, Martha had people move the stone away from the entrance of the tomb. Then Jesus looked up to the sky said again.
“Father, I thank you that you have heard me. And I know that you hear me always. But because of the people here I said it, that they may believe that you have sent me.”
Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And Lazarus came out from the tomb. Just as He had said, Lazarus was brought back to life.
The Reason Jesus Raised Lazarus from the Dead
Jesus’ thoughts and our thoughts are very different. Therefore, if we keep our own thoughts, we cannot accept Jesus’ thoughts. When Martha and Mary heard Jesus say that Lazarus would live again, they thought, ‘My brother, who is already dead and smells of decay, is coming back to life? How could that be possible?’ Likewise, in this day and age, many people cannot accept Jesus’ words that He has washed away all their sins and made them righteous.
God is saying, “It may seem impossible and absurd to you, but I can do it. I have the power to save you just as I saved Lazarus.” Even in things we cannot understand, God wants us to believe with the heart, ‘God can do anything because He is almighty,’ ‘God can make me righteous,’ ‘God can heal my sickness,’ ‘God can solve my problems.’ That is why He raised Lazarus from the dead and showed it to us through the Bible.
May This Be a Year of Becoming One Hearted with Jesus
Dear beloved children, I have believed in Jesus for over 60 years and have experienced countless times when impossible things became possible because of Him. So now I am confident that I can survive even in the Sahara Desert if God feeds me. No matter how difficult it seems, I have faith that ‘Jesus can do it.’
No one is as wise as one who believes in Jesus. Please do not act like you know everything with your little knowledge, but rather take Jesus’ words as is. I wish for you all to be closer and be one hearted with Jesus in the year 2024 so that God may also work powerfully through you.
