하나님이 우리를 하나님의 형상대로 만들어주신 뒤에, 우리에게 세상을 다스리라고 하셨습니다. 친구들에게 복음을 전할 때 ‘나는 부족해’ ‘나는 못해’ 하지 말고, 하나님이 여러분을 하나님과 똑같이 부족함이 없게 해놓으신 것을 믿고 힘있게 나아가길 바랍니다.

천지를 창조하신 하나님
창세기 1장에 하나님께서 세상을 만드신 이야기가 나옵니다. 처음 세상은 혼돈(정돈되지 않아 어수선함)하고 공허(아무것도 없이 텅 빔)하며 흑암(빛이 없어 어두움)이 깊었습니다. 그때 하나님이 말씀으로 빛이 있으라고 하셔서 빛을 낮이라고 하시고 어두움을 밤이라고 칭하셨습니다. 다음 날에는 하늘과 땅과 바다를 만드시고, 그 다음 셋째 날에는 풀과 채소와 과일나무를 만드셨습니다. 넷째 날에는 해와 달과 별을 만드시고, 다섯 째 날에는 새와 물고기를 만드셨습니다. 그리고 여섯 째 날에는 땅에 사는 짐승을 만드시고 마지막으로 사람을 만드셨습니다.

하나님의 형상
하나님이 사람을 만드실 때는 다른 것을 만들 때와 달랐습니다. 창세기 1장 26절을 보면 “하나님이 가라사대 ‘우리의 형상을 따라 우리의 모양대로 우리가 사람을 만들고 그로 바다의 고기와 공중의 새와 육축과 온 땅과 땅에 기는 모든 것을 다스리게 하자’ 하시고”라고 되어 있습니다. 하나님이 사람을 만드실 때 하나님의 형상을 따라 하나님의 모양과 똑같이 만드신 것입니다. 하나님의 형상은 거룩하고 의롭고 온전하십니다. 즉, 하나님은 우리를 거룩하고 의롭고 온전하게 만드셨습니다. 하나님은 왜 인간을 하나님과 같은 형상으로 만드셨을까요? 하나님은 사람을 사랑하셔서 사람과 함께하고 싶으셔서 사람을 하나님과 똑같은 형상으로 만들고자 하셨습니다. 그래서 사람을 하나님과 같이 거룩하게 만드실 계획을 세우셨습니다. 그 뜻이 이루어진 것이 바로 예수님의 십자가입니다.

하나님과 같이 의롭게 하심
원래 인간은 죄를 짓고 악했습니다. 그런 인간이 거룩하게 되려면 죄를 씻어야 했습니다. 그래서 당신의 아들이신 예수님을 이 땅에 보내셨습니다. 그리고 예수님이 십자가에 달려 돌아가심으로 세상 죄를 모두 씻으셨습니다. 우리가 받을 벌을 예수님이 받으셨기 때문에 우리는 값없이 의롭게 되었습니다. 그렇게 우리에게 하나님의 형상을 입혀주신 것입니다.

거룩한 하나님의 자녀
나는 창세기 1장 26절 말씀을 읽으며, ‘이야, 내가 하나님의 형상과 같네’ 하고 너무 너무 감사했습니다. ‘하나님, 이렇게 더럽고 악한 인간을 왜 당신의 형상으로 만드셨습니까? 정말 감사합니다. 그렇지만 저는 화도 잘 내고, 짜증도 내고, 거룩하지 않은 모습이 나타날 때가 많습니다’ 하는 마음이 들었습니다. 그런데 성경 말씀을 보면, 하나님은 ‘그래도 너는 거룩해. 너는 의로워. 예수의 피로 네 죄가 모두 씻어졌어’ 하고 말씀하셨습니다. 그런 말씀을 볼 때마다 얼마나 감사하고 눈물겨운지 모릅니다.
하나님은 우리를 하나님과 같이 거룩하게 만드시고 우리를 자녀 삼아주셨습니다. 그래서 우리가 ‘하나님 아버지’라고 말하는 것입니다. 하나님은 우리의 아버지이십니다. 우리가 “하나님 아버지!”라고 부를 때마다 “그래, 내 사랑하는 아들, 딸들아!”라고 답해주십니다. 

세상을 다스리라
우리는 이 시대의 작은 하나님입니다. 하나님과 우리는 하나입니다. 하나님이 우리를 하나님의 형상으로 만들어주신 뒤에, 우리에게 세상을 다스리라고 하셨습니다. 키가 크든 작든, 미국 사람이든 한국 사람이든 다 하나님 형상으로 지은 사람들이고 하나님의 뜻을 위하여 세움을 입은 사람들입니다. 만물들이 하나님과 우리를 구분하지 못 하게 해서, ‘아, 하나님이 오셨네’ 하며 순종할 수 있게 해놓으셨습니다. 
예전에는 이런 복음을 전하는 교회가 없었습니다. 그래서 많은 사람들이 하나님을 믿으면서도 자신은 죄인이라고 생각했습니다. 그런데 지금은 우리를 통해 복음이 전 세계로 빠르게 전파되어, 의롭게 된 사실을 믿고 하나님께 영광을 돌리는 사람들이 많아졌습니다. 하나님이 우리에게 복음으로 전 세계를 다스릴 수 있게 해주셨습니다. 

하나님의 이름으로
2024년 새해가 밝았습니다. 하나님께서 올해에 여러분을 통해 많은 일을 하실 것입니다. 친구들에게 복음을 전할 때 ‘나는 부족해’ ‘나는 못해’ 하지 말고 하나님이 여러분에게 일하실 것을 믿으십시오. 여러분이 하나님의 이름으로 일하는 것을 주저하지 마십시오. 우리는 부족함도 많고 연약함도 많지만 하나님의 손길이 함께하셔서 우리가 복음을 전하고 하나님의 일을 하기에 부족함이 없게 하셨습니다. 그 하나님의 약속을 믿고 힘있게 나아가길 바랍니다.

The God Who Created Heaven and Earth
In Genesis chapter 1 in the Bible, there is a story about God creating the world. In the beginning, the world was without form (disorderly and messy), void (completely empty), and darkness (without light) was upon the face of the deep. At that time, God said, “Let there be light,” and He called the light day and the darkness night. On the next day, He created heaven (sky), earth (land), and sea. On the third day, He created grass, the herb yielding seed, and fruit trees. On the fourth day, He created the sun, moon, and stars, and on the fifth day, He created birds and fish. Finally, on the sixth day, He created beasts of the earth (land animals) and, lastly, human beings.

The Image of God
When God created people, it was different from creating anything else. In Genesis chapter 1 verse 26 in the Bible, it says, “And God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.’” When God created people, He made them in His own image and likeness. The image of God is holy, righteous, and perfect. In other words, God made us holy, righteous, and perfect. Why did God create us in His own image? It is because God loves people and wants to be with them so He created them in His exact image. He planned to make everyone holy, just like Himself. This plan was fulfilled through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

God Made Us Righteous Just Like Himself
Originally, humans committed sin and were wicked. For people to become holy, their sins needed to be washed away. That’s why God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth. And Jesus, by being crucified on the cross, washed away all the sins of the world. Because Jesus bore the punishment we were supposed to receive, we became righteous without any cost. This is how He bestowed upon us the image of God.

Children of the Holy God
As I read Genesis 1:26, I felt so grateful, thinking, “Wow, I am created in the image of God.” I wondered, “God, why did You create such a dirty and wicked person in Your image? Truly, thank You so much. However, I often find myself getting angry, irritated, and showing unholy behaviors.” But when I look at the words of the Bible, God says, “Nevertheless, you are holy. You are righteous. All your sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus.” Every time I see such words, I can’t help but feel overwhelmingly thankful and tearful.
God has made us holy like Himself and accepted us as His children. That is why we call Him, “Our Father in heaven.” God is our Father. Whenever we call Him “Father God,” He responds, “Yes, my beloved sons and daughters!”

Rule the World
We are the small gods of this age. We and God are one. After God created us in His image, He told us to rule the world. Whether tall or short, American or Korean, we are all people created in the image of God, established for the purpose of fulfilling God’s will. God made it so that all living things cannot tell the difference between Him and us, so they can listen and obey us.
In the past, there was no church proclaiming this gospel. Many people believed in God yet still considered themselves sinners. However, now through us, the gospel is rapidly spreading worldwide, and many people have come to believe in the fact that they are righteous and give glory to God. God has enabled us to rule the world through the gospel.

In the Name of God
It is now the year 2024 and God will surely work through each of you this year. When sharing the gospel with friends, believe that God will work through you, and don’t think, “I am not good at this” or “I can’t do it.” Do not hesitate to work in the name of God. Despite our many shortcomings and weaknesses, God is with us, helping us in everything as we share the gospel and do His work. May you believe in God’s promises and move forward with strength.
